Our Team
Home of forensic entomology Database is developed and maintained by Professor Cai and Professor Meng’s team. Currently, our team endeavors in the field of forensic entomology encompass the amalgamation of classical insect morphological classification with barcoding technology and an array of genetic markers to address the conundrums about species identification, population differentiation, and sample tracing of prevalent sarcosaprophagous insects. Through the pursuit of comparative genomics research, we aim to elucidate the origins of sarcosaprophagous insects and their capability for adaptive cognition in exceptional ecological milieus. Furthermore, we have successfully established a regional succession survey and an encompassing database delineating the diversity of sarcosaprophagous insects, founded upon the dynamic progressions observed within insect communities on decomposing cadavers. Additionally, meticulous investigations into pertinent biological indicators, including microorganisms, flora, parasites, and other symbiotic entities, are conducted in the vicinity of the cadaver for comprehensive exploration. We would like to establish broader cooperation with all the research communities through the Home of forensic entomology Database.
